Busy week!

Is everyone ready for Christmas? I've been busy this week! I rented an apartment and had a job interview on Monday (we are moving Feb. 11), Tuesday I had a Christmas party, Wed. I had Bible Studay Fellowship, and lunch with J, Amy and Carter, then we went to see the lights at the horsepark with Uncle Jerry, Aunt Betty, and Pete's family. This morning I helped pack 95,000 meals for Hati, it took us just over an hour and was sooo much fun, by the end of the week the church will have packed well over a million meals! Tonight we have Hearts for Hero's, tomorrow Phil leaves for the weekend, I have two Dr appts. and dinner out with J & Amy. Saturday is Christmas shopping with Amy & Carter then church. On Sunday I am working at the hospital on! Sometime I need to get my Christmas packages sent!Saturday, November 26, 2011
Happy Holidays!!
Well I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving weekend. We are. We had a really nice breakfast with all the kids and mom Thursday morning. Then everyone went off to the other places they needed to be. The little boys and Wes went out hunting twice. They brought us back a deer Thursday night. Dan, Ashley, Cameron and Alyssa left for shopping at 10 pm Thursday night. Friday Wes and the little boys went out hunting again, while everyone else slept , and brought us back the cutest Christmas tree. I don't think the kids have ever had a live Christmas tree, and especially not one that the went out and the woods and cut down themselves. We had pizza and wings and decorated it last night. Then Dan and Ash came over and watched movies. Today I think were going to be baking cookies. Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

Psalms 100:4
Enter his gates with a song of thanksgiving. Come into his courts with a song of praise. Give thanks to Him and praise his name!
Thanksgiving fun fact #8
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade used to use live animals instead of floats. Macy's started their parade in 1924... with live animals. They borrowed a bunch from the Central Park Zoo and paraded them around New York. That went on for three years. Finally, in 1927, Goodyear stepped up and made Macy's a balloon shaped like Felix the Cat. Felix was the king of cartoon characters at the time. Any kids reading, he was iconic to the people then. The first Mickey Mouse balloon wasn't in the parade until 1934. A few other notably strange balloons: The Nestle Nesquick Bunny debuted in 1988; Sonic the Hedgehog in 1993; Izzy, the hideous mascot of the '96 Atlanta Olympics, in 1995; and Kraft's Cheesasaurus Rex in 2001.

Thanksgiving fun fact #6
Since 1947, the National Turkey Federation has presented a live turkey and two dressed turkeys to the President. The President does not eat the live turkey. He "pardons" it and allows it to live out its days on a historical farm

The pilgrims didn't use forks; they ate with spoons, knives, and their fingers.

1200

We are at 1200 posts, Oh my. Like usual I am late sending out my recipes but I will get them in the mail tomorrow. I finally was able to sit down today and cut up pictures to put with my recipes and get addresses. I know Aunt Deb and Uncle mike sent me a recipe but of course I cannot find the address anywhere. So Ihave two for them still. I had my drink recipe picked out for awhile. I was most excited about these recipes, because I love some hot drinks on clod day. It was only cold here for about four days and then it warmed right back up. The kids have been outside all weekend ans we have made two trips to the park. The closets are still full because I dont know when to put away the summer clothes. Today I cleaned out the refridgerator and the girls tried so hard to helpw e ended up making a bigger mess then we had to begin with. But know it is clean and done. Ruben teacher said he is going to be a great artist all he want to do is draw so he must have more rogers in him then I do. His is very detailed in his work and his descriptions of his drawings are so real. In the morning the first thing he wants to do is draw. He had filled to comp books full of drawing in the last week. Addi has her first dancerecital in December I cannot wait. I will finally see what she has been learning. I dont get to watch her practive but her conficence in building. Jensen learned how to say "Ilove you" and "good girl" this week. And now she tells us when she is ready for a diaper change hopefully potty training will be easy. Gwen insists on dressing up in a cowgirl outfit as soon as she gets to school, it keeps her happy. Well I need to go pack lunches and get school bags together. Love you all!

Shopping excitement!
I hate shopping, and I do as little of it as possible. Although I do love to find all the great deals! Ash and I have started shopping the sales at Jubilee and the clearance bins at Rite Aide and Family Dollar(the only stores in Gowanda), on Sunday afternoons while the boys are watching football. Sundays greatest finds were .34 /12 pack popsicles, and .68 frozen veggies. Yesterday I had to go pick up Tim (he has October break till Sunday). I was excited because thats the only time I can get near a Walmart, and I had $7 to spend! Found some good deals. For $7 I got: 2/2lts Dr.Pepper 10, a bag of dog food, 2 bags of ricola cough and sore throat drops, 2 pks of tic tacs, and 2 pks of UP2U gum. Not exactly extreme couponing , but I was excited.

Camping

Phil and I went camping this last weekend. We were the only one's there. They have 3 cabins, just for sleeping, no water, no electric. Each cabin sleeps 10. It was so fun! Everything I love about camping. . .cooking out, waking up to the cold air and having a fire, hiking, it was great. The one thing I don't enjoy about camping is waking up and having everything be damp, it wasn't because of the cabin. So relaxing!Thursday, October 6, 2011

Gram Bev's weekend
Hi, My week end is always Sun and Monday. Sun I went to church then because it was so cold and rainy I spent the day snuggling on my couch reading and sleeping. I love days like that. Mon I got new front break pads and sway bars for my car. (most work covered by warranty) Sylvi bless her heart ran me around and fed me a great breakfast. I love spending time with her. Then at 7pm I spent and hour with the dentist trying to get rid of a bad tooth ache I've had for about a week. I'm pretty sore this am so I don't know if the problem is licked yet. Guess I'm just getting old and falling apart!!! I love the pictures Brandi she is beautiful. Love ya all. Gram Bev

Gwen
Today Gwen got to spend the day at home with Her abulita, the other kids went to school which she really loves and misses when she is home. Her teacher sent her home with some pictures last week and she does not want to part with them. She says , "come on mom lets go be with my frog friends" She has made friends with a little boy names Connor, and her strong personality is certainly making an appearance. She has become very opinionated and strong willed. Ms Jan her teacher says she is so happy for her, her personality is what girls need in these times.
Love you all!!!

Black Feet

We just cam back from camping and I came home with the dirtiest feet. So I was on pinterst and found this. I am going to try this tonite. I hope it works,
1.put shaving cream on your feet
2.in a bucket use equal parts warm water and listerine
3. soak a smal hand towel in the warm water solution
4. wrap your foot in the towel, while the shaving cream is still on you foot
5. after 30 minutes use the towel to wipe your feet off
6. some of the dry skin and most of the blackness on the foot should come off.
7. apply a thick lotion and avoid putting on sock or shoes for at least 5 minutes, let your foot dry as long a possible to prevent a odor.
Only do this once a week, more than that could resort in sore feet.
Ill post pictures of camping later, love you guys!

Saturday
Alyssa, Ian ,Lyle, Ashley, and Dan left for their first quiz tournament of the year at 7 this morning. Lyle insisted all last year that he would not do quizzing, he hated it. Well, I kind of made him do it , because with Cameron gone they wouldn't have a team if he didn't. He really likes it now, especially since he can memorize really good, and he loves to beat Ian in answering questions. Ian gets really mad. He grabs his quizzing folder, says "Lyle didn't even want to quiz this year", and stomps to his room to study. It will be interesting to see how they do by the end of the year. Tim and Cam are home again this weekend. Wes and I were supposed to go riding this weekend cause there were going to be no kids here all day, but the 4 wheeler broke this week and its really cold and rainy. We have the wood stove going and its nice and toasty in here. I'll probably do a little baking, I found a pumpkin scone recipe that looks really good.

Night at the races

Last night a friend who works security at the Red Mile race track gave us tickets to the Grand Circut Harness Races. We have never watched harness racing, it was so fun! We stayed for 10 races, then came home, it was cold. We placed 4 $1 bets and won $3.20, so the night ended up costing us .80, well more than that if you count the hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, and popcorn we ate, but still lots of fun. This morning is the diabetes walk, and this afternoon is Amy's shower. I still have to wrap gifts and make a snack! Hope you all have a great day!

My first post as a Rogers Blogger!

First, I want to say Happy Birthday to Timmy! Hope you have a great day.
So, today marks the 6th week that I've been on bed rest. It's really not as bad as it sounds. I'm sure it would be worse if I stayed in bed 100% of the time, but I escape every once in a while.. :) And luckily, we're not losing any money from me being off because state workers are donating time to me. (So really I'm saving money because I don't have to drive anywhere!) I'm very grateful for that.
I'm going to the Doctor about 2-3 times a week now. They're keeping a close eye on us. So far everything is going great! I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow, so there are only a few weeks left before he's here!
I had dreams about him all night. Conveniently enough, I couldn't remember any of the labor part (I really wanted to know how that went!), but he was such a happy baby, and I woke up in a great mood. Oh, and he had red hair...haha. I can't wait to hold him.

Since I've been home so much lately, I've had a lot of time to read and do crafty things. So far I've read about 12 books. I recommend Heaven is for Real and The Hunger Games trilogy! I also knitted some washcloths for Carter, drew some pictures for his room, and drew a mural on the wall to match his bedding. Tami and Julie helped me paint it (ladders are not my friends right now), and I love it!
I'm so glad Autumn is here. It's my happiest season.
I hope all is well with you guys. We miss you all.
Cookies
I'm baking cake mix cookies this morning. Funfetti and chocolate! They are so easy(1 cake mix, 1/3 c oil and 2 eggs, mix, roll ,put on cookie sheet, and flatten, bake 6-7 min) and really good, and they have so many different flavors, and eggs and cake mixes were on sale this week! I stocked up. I wonder if they turn out the same with sugar free mixes. Has anyone tried?
Tim's 21 birthday is today, he could use a lot of encouragement, hes having a hard time being at school ,and away from Lisa.
Have a great day! Love ya

HI FROM GRAM BEV
I can't believe it, I go away for 3 days and when I get home I see everyone's been writting and I got Brandi's mail with recipe and PICTURES. This is wonderful! I think it easier to slow down in Sept. You all have been so busy with neat projects! I love the pictures on the blog and it sure helps to feel closer. Gram T is doing well and I am determained to make some happy memories with her before God calls her home. We took a ride in the countryside out near North Syracuse and she was so pleased. We ate out a couple times and I took an extra day off next month so that I could spend a bit more time. So now I'm home and will start packing again so that when and if I get the house I'll be ready. Thanks for the recipes I hope to try one a week starting this week. Love ya all Grandma

green tomatoes
Last week I picked most of my green tomatoes, because they really weren't getting ripe, and I found some recipes to use them in. So, today was the day to try them out. I made 3 quarts of green tomato mincemeat ( it turned out really yummy I cant wait to bake cookies with it , they are Wes favorite), and I also made a quart of green tomato salsa, not as good as the mincemeat, but not bad. Our weather has been beautiful the past few days, sunny and 80s (love it)

Life Adventure Center

I got picture of our rock climbing date today! Sadly no pictures of us actually rock climbing or on the zip line. We are walking on a cable in these pictures, we had a great time. Life adventure center is one of my favorite places to go. In October they have their last date for this year, they take us on a wagon ride, and have a big fire, it's so much fun. Last year it was one of my first big outings after I had my surgery. Can't believe it's been a year already!Sunday, September 25, 2011
Proverbs

The ladies at school and my office assistant have been studying Proverbs we have only gotten through the first two chapters, but the first chapter warns us about temptation of evil men, my favorite verse is verse 8-9 I have it on a post it on my computer it says, "listen my son to your father's instruction, and do not forsake your mothers teaching. They are a garland to grace your head, and a chain to adorn your neck." love you guys!
YAY!!!!

Brandi I love the pics of the girls and your art wall is so cute! The pics above are of the diy project we are working on right now, as soon as I have a finished project I'll show more pictures.Sandi I've been thinking about how we let ourselves believe lies so easily, and the only way to combat the lies is with the truth, just like you did. There are so many ways satan lies to us - he uses guilt, envy, lonliness, doubt . . . it's so easy to let those things take over. Today in church the speaker talked about how these things start like a little spark and can soon become a fire and we can be taken over by them. We need to fight fire with fire, the Holy Spirit, and the way to do that is with the truth of scripture. I bought dry erase crayons today to write some scriptures on my mirrors so I can start fighting some of the lies that are becoming traps for me.
I'm so thankful for all of you! I miss you all! Tami
